PROJECTOR LIGHT

If you are an avid fan of going to movie houses to watch your favorite movies, then you should be familiar with the projector used in theaters. These projectors have bright lights that can project the images on the films clearly on white screens. This type of light is called the projector light.

Projector lights can be used by configuring spotlights and add projector map to the spotlight. The principle is quite simple. To project images in Max, you just have to add projector maps. Let me demonstrate just how to do that.

In this case I’ll use a Free Spot and position it in front of the camera. I also changed the cone shape to rectangle to give it a more realistic look for a projector light.

The projector map can be found in the ‘Advanced Effects’ roll-out. Check on the ‘Map:’ under the ‘Projector Map’ group. For example, I just used the default images in Windows XP such as the Sunset.jpg to demonstrate how this works.

Finally, here’s how the projector map will look like on the wall.
