AREA AND AMBIENT LIGHTING

Omnis are best used for lighting up dark corners especially you’re your scene is about ambience and somewhat cozy. Unlike spotlights, Omni lights light up your scene in all corners. They don’t have cones or light angles. This is why Omnis are heavily used in lighting all kinds of scenes.

The figure below shows how an Omni light gives color to the dark room that I have created. For the next figure, I added two more Omni lights to light up those dark corners of the scene.

Figure 4-10. Using only one Omni light.

Figure 4-11. Three Omni light is used, one with Shadow On.

This is how the lay-out of the Omni lights in the scene looks like. The two Omnis near the Teapot have their Intensity halved. While the Omni which is farthest has its Shadow effect turned on.

Figure 4-12. The Max scene with 3 Omni lights.
